Because we understand climate disruption as a consequence of our broken economic system, and of centuries of colonialism and white supremacy, we confront root causes and promote solutions at the intersection of multiple crises. We provide long-term vision and bold ideas in domestic and international policy spaces, using research, writing and strategic conversations to redefine what is politically possible.

We seek to nurture deep relationships with grassroots organizations and networks and to align our efforts with movement goals.

We work with our movement partners on the following broad areas:

  • Resisting the fossil fuel buildout. We work with movements to resist the continued buildout of fossil fuel infrastructure in the United States. We also work to resist the push for unjust, ineffective industry-driven solutions to climate change, such as carbon capture and carbon markets, which allow the fossil fuel industry to keep operating.
  • Building real solutions. We work with movements to support real solutions that center community needs, such as community-owned renewable energy and affordable public transportation.
